Welcome to the diary of a Stingy Foodie. My name is Danny. I am a foodie, home cook, blogger, and food photographer, living in Sydney with my wife Noemi and our British Bulldog Tallulah May.
My love for food and cooking began at an early age. I was a fat kid growing up because I loved food so much. My mum and dad were great cooks so I never really needed to cook for myself until I moved out of home. When I eventually moved in with my then girlfriend (who is now my wife), I started cooking simple stuff – mainly south-east asian dishes because it was delicious and super cheap to make. My seasonal pantry was always packed and I loved testing out new flavours. I got more adventurous and creative as time went on. When covid happened, I found that I had more time to play around with, so I’ve just been testing out new things and forcing it down my family and friends throats.
The Stingy Foodie began in 2020 as a personal blog. A good friend of mine actually gave me the moniker as I regularly posted about my food adventures on social media which consisted mainly of fast food as well as my favourite local cheap & cheerful spots (emphasis on cheap). Anyway, the blog was just an easy way to share my adventures and recipes with friends and family. My small hobby blog quickly ignited a passion for food photography as well as a desire to teach others.
The food I make here on Stingy Foodie is not the most traditional, nor is it the most authentic— however, it is the most authentic representation of me and my palate.
At Stingy Foodie, I hope you enjoy the food I make and gain a better understanding of who I am through my recipes. Thanks for stopping by!
